The City of Eden Prairie commissioned a Major Center Area (MCA) study to examine and plan for the future of the MCA.
The MCA is an area that encompasses Eden Prairie Center, extends to Valley View Road on the north and includes I-494, Highway 5 and Highway 212 interchange area as well as the area around Prairie Center Drive.
The Community Development Department has successfully accomplished the 14 month Major Center Area (MCA) Study. The MCA study was approved by the City Council in January 2006 as an advisory tool for future redevelopment and public improvements in the Prairie Center Drive/Valley View “ring road” area.
In response to public input, the study recommends developing a compact, walkable town center in the Singletree Lane/Highway 212 area.
In order to implement the town center vision, the study recommends developing detailed design guidelines for future buildings, parking ramps, streetscape amenities, pedestrian/bicycle connections and other public spaces.
