The City of Eden Prairie is scheduled to begin a bituminous overlay project Monday, June 11, 2012.
The anticipated completion date for the entire project is July 27, 2012.

The project includes several streets on the west and north sides of Eden Prairie, which are indicated on the following map:

2012 Street Overlay Project Map [PDF]

The intent of the overlay project is to prolong the “life” of the streets in a cost-effective way, before the streets deteriorate completely and a much more costly street reconstruction must occur.

There will NOT be any special assessments to the adjacent property owners for this project.

Repair work on portions of the project area has already begun. This work includes concrete curb and gutter repair (where concrete curb and gutter is currently present), storm sewer catch basin and manhole repairs, and street patching.

The work beginning June 11 includes milling off the top layer of the existing bituminous pavement to improve street drainage.

The actual bituminous overlay will be placed after the milling and additional repair work has been completed, generally lagging the milling by two to four working days, depending on weather conditions.

Parking on the street should be avoided during the milling operation and the actual placement of the overlay.

Property owners adjacent to the streets to be overlaid are receiving letters prior to the work occurring on their streets, which includes a more detailed schedule.
